We've hosted weddings for 25 years. We know what makes them work: a team that's calm when couples aren't, catering that genuinely impresses, and a setting that photographs from every angle.
Our garden venue is a dedicated ceremony and reception space set within the lodge gardens — mature trees, indigenous planting, mountain views in every direction. It works beautifully for intimate weddings of 30 to 120 guests, and for couples who want a ceremony space that feels collected and complete without heavy decoration.
The garden venue is available as a standalone hire for ceremony and reception, or as part of a full venue package that includes the lodge, accommodation and catering.
For weddings of 80 to 200 guests, full venue hire gives you exclusive use of the entire Waterval property — the lodge, the gardens, the outdoor ceremony spaces, the accommodation, the kitchen. Your wedding is the only event on the property that day and night.
Full venue hire includes accommodation for the wedding party and selected guests, which means the celebration doesn't have to end at a fixed hour. You and your people stay the night, and breakfast the next morning is part of the experience.
We work with a trusted network of florists, photographers, musicians and celebrants in the Tulbagh and Cape Winelands area. We're happy to share recommendations — but you're welcome to bring your own team.
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Contact us with your preferred dates and we'll arrange a walkthrough with our events coordinator. Site visits are free and completely obligation-free.
All catering is done by our in-house kitchen team. We don't allow external caterers, which means we can guarantee the food quality and service. Menus are customised per wedding — dietary requirements fully accommodated. Halaal available.
Garden venue: 30–120 seated guests. Full venue: up to 200 seated. For larger groups we can discuss custom configurations.
We recommend 9–12 months for peak season (September–April). Weekday and winter weddings are available with shorter lead times. A 25% deposit holds your date.
We have no sound curfew restrictions that would cut your evening short. Please ask us about the current guidelines when you enquire — we want the dancing to last as long as you do.
The venue made decoration almost unnecessary. We just let Waterval be Waterval — and it was the most beautiful day of our lives.
